Question by Army Ranger: how much of a medical degree can I earn online while working a full time job?
Im sure it is impossible to become a doctor with online classes but I want to know how close I can get online or what Good mecial job I can get a degree/certified for online?

Best answer:

Answer by Diane A
There are virtually no hands-on medical jobs that can be obtained on-line. You could do SOME of the pre-reqs on line but that is all.
This is because you need lab time for the science classes; and hands-on medical jobs have clinicals which require being there. There are some allied health jobs that seem to be cropping up on line such as billing & coding, but I suspect the actual ability to get a job after completing an on line job would be hard, you have no one to write references for you and you haven’t made any contacts. If you need to do an internship, the online places can’t help you either. Overall, the medical profession tends to hold on-line schooling in a bit of a skeptical position, as so many medical providers attended & sweated through bricks & mortar schools & feel that is the only way to learn medicine.

My question pretty much says it all. I’m a public school teacher going back for my masters through a 100% online program. I am about to sell my desktop and purchase a laptop. I want great reliability and speed for a price that is preferably under $ 1300. I know that’s a stretch but I want to know if anyone has any suggestions out there. Thanks.

Answer by John D
Whatever your comfortable with. I would go with a Macbook though. I got one and can say, I am impressed.

Most people look at an online degrees as bogus, but my school is accredited regionally which is the best. Plus I finished my 14 month program in 11 months and graduated with a 3.97 GPA, and it doesn’t mean shit in the business world because I earned it online……What’s up with that????????

Best answer:

Answer by sweetthang
Maybe they see it as you got to use information to take tests online or something. Although I know that isn’t true but I’ve heard people state that kind of thing as though you have your textbook out and don’t have to study and can cheat all the time.

Question by Tiffany M: How much is a degree (online, ie Strayer or University of Phoenix) really worth in the working world?
Will you see a return in investment with a dregree from these online education systems for working individuals? Do employees discount people who get degrees online instead of traditional?

Best answer:

Answer by LittleFreedom
I know someone who already had a job and a position she wanted in mind, talked to her boss about it, took the University of Phoenix online and now she’s got that awesome promotion…

But I also know a girl who did the University of Phoenix, got her degree and still braids hair

I guess it’s what YOU make of it and what plans you have in mind. I think if it was a job interview and the ONLY decision was between your degree and a traditional degree, an employer would choose traditional, but if you have skills and determination, I don’t think that would be a deterrent to landing a job.

If it’s what works for you, go for it. Find out the cost first though. I don’t know what the difference is. The girl who braided hair went for free or low income, the girl who wanted the promotion paid full price, but I’m sure had reimbursements through the job.

Question by Nani Girl: Anybody earn an online degree and working?
I would like to hear how its going with you after you earned your online degree and are working now. I am currently attending University of Maryland University College and earning a history degree and would like to work as a substitute teacher then earn a teacher credential to be a middle school history teacher. Please state your school as well. And if you think employers are hesitant to hire you if you earned an online degree rather than traditional. Thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by DrIG
I know a number of people who have an online degree and are working. You should recognize, however, that many employers do not like online degrees./
