Question by me: Is an Online college degree in Technology any good?!?
I will be attending a private university: University of Phoenix and was wondering if an online degree in IT will be any good? thanks!

University of Phoenix has a very sketchy reputation (google it). Regardless, it seems like a field IT should be done along with hands on experience. If you choose UOP, or any other school, I think it would best to do it in a classroom setting (or at least find a job where you can apply what you are learning).

As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions.
My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.

You could pursue a multitude of a variety of careers in technology. Talk to a representative from the college.

Yes that is the one good online collage. And yes, jobs would recognize it. All the others are fake collages. But not that one.

I would think there is no true online PharmD programs unless you are already a pharmacist with the older Bachelors degree in Pharmacy.
This is similar to online RN to BSN programs for nurses.

I ask becuase I am entering my 2nd year of a criminology degree (Bsc) through a UK university and I think its great. It’s a real degree, not one of those totally fake things!

Great thing is that it takes approx. 4 years, is part time, is online and allows you to work if you want or need to while doing it! Its continuous assesment, no exams…marked on essays you submit. And at the end of the day it doesn’t mention that it was an online degree course. Can be done anywhere in the world, I’m in Ireland, the uni is in the UK. Best of all is that it costs less than 900 Euro per year.

Anyone who wants info on that course email me and I’ll send you the link to the uni, just saying that because I think lotsa folks dont realise how cheap it can be to get a real degree! Just trying to share what I think is a great opportunity.
Just reread my question and it sounds like a sales pitch, it isn’t. It’s just that I was delighted to find it as they don’t seem to advertise it very much…if at all (I don’t understand that), I think they should!

My philosophy is that it’s nice to be nice…..so, if this helps anyone, great!

I think this depends on what online program you use. If it’s online courses through the college you attend it shouldn’t make a difference. If it’s a strictly online college I think the degree is a lot less respected. It wouldn’t hurt to call a few potential employment companies and ask thier feelings on the degree. Tell them you are a student and were wondering what thier attitude is on the subject.

1/ whether your online degree is accredited with the APA
2/ what job you are going for.

I’m asking this question for my mother…

She’s about to turn 50, wants to divorce my dad, and I completely condone that, but she’s unemployed and has never really worked in her life. She has a 13 year old son, my brother, who she would have to take care of besides herself, and of course, doesn’t want to struggle too too much.

I think she should get a degree, but I especially think maybe an online degree would be a great thing for her.

What kind of online degree would help her make the most money she could for a woman in her circumstances? I was thinking maybe medical transcription, but i don’t know too much about it. Any other ideas?

Well can’t single out single course in a college. I can tell you that Ashworth is good college which is nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). And that is for sure a good accreditation institution. All you need to do is check student reviews on this particular course.
