Find a bricks and mortar university and sign up. Many classes you can take on-line. Others you will have to attend in person. If you are going to spend time and money on a degree do it from an accredited university, or your degree will be worthless. On-line degrees are not respected, and most are meaningless. (college professor)

I will have a BA in political science in 2 months and i was wondering if getting a finance certificate from an inexpensive online could make a big difference for me in landing a job?

No, and if you can get something online that’s cheap all it will do is bring your credibility down.
Don’t do it.. It’d be better to get a job and than at some point maybe take online classes at like pepperdine or university of phoenix and see if your employer pays part of tuition (many do) and go that route… I wouldn’t recommend anything else.

AACSB is not vital. Many good universities have one of the other business accreditation. The scary part is the “online universities”. Are you talking University of Phoenix and the like? Employers will definitely look down on these degrees. Many employers will throw your resume away for listing them. If you need an online degree, look to the state universities. Your diploma will not shout “online” or “for-profit”.

Isn’t Business management somewhat like business admin?
If u’re looking towards the prospects of going overseas then Int’l/global business would be an obvious choice.

Personally, I think you should review the each of their course guides to check out whichever might interest you the most. For me, a bachelor degree’s rather general. So either of these 3 sounds as good.

Not sure about non-profit uni with online platform though. Learning should take place in the classroom where there’s real-time communication. U get to build your network too.

(online), I have applied to University of Memphis to complete a Bachelor’s degree in international business or marketing. I am having second thoughts about my path now. Should I continue with a Bachelor’s in Information Technology or a more specific business fields? Shall I attend traditional campus or continue online? I have done it before, it’s great, but time consuming. For business traditional campus seems like a great idea. But if I continue with IT, then what better place to get the degree than online, where you are forced to deal with more software and the internet? The IT field is growing so fast and there are so many high paying jobs and new fields, but business has a proven success record with hard work. Hard work will, of course, always be necessary. But what field and end to a means is the most noteworthy and reasonable? Give me your opinion.

Whatever you do, get away from University of Phoenix. You need a degree from a REAL university if you want prospective employees to respect your education.

dunno…but i had a bad experience with online schools, it’s hard to get help. i had a huge problem, n was never able to resolve anything. I just got a huge bill in the mail a few months later.

As long as the college is accredited your degree will meet the requirement for a degree for most employers.

More and more colleges are going to multiple delivery formats. Colleges like University of Phoenix and Devry have been pioneers in this arena. They do it better than most. For business, this format should be ok.

As far as “respected”, it relative to who is doing the hiring. Also keep in mind the military, for example, recognizes these type of schools, and encourages their use because of the flexibility.

I believe we are going to see the way colleges and Universities deliver their studies. As technology improves it’s becoming less and less relevant to be physically located on a campus, especially with the global economy.

Working on a degree online is actually much harder. The requirements are not less stringent. You have to be much more disciplined. The way Phoenix does it is closer to how corporate education is conducted. Also, in addition to a degree, corporations want professional certification.

The short answer, a degree from the U of Phoenix will get you past the “gatekeepers”!

For my entire life, I have been around video games. It’s all I know and love. I live in a small to average size community where there are no video game outlets (GameStop, EB Games, Blockbuster) in the area. We only have Red Box vendors. I want to build the premiere hot spot in video gaming. I dont want to divulge to much as I do have some pretty good ideas. So what college degree do I need to pursue?

Well, I suppose that you better take some classes so that you are fully up to speed on computers, programming, etc. As to the business side of things, you don’t really need a degree in anything, but some basic accounting knowledge is quite important when running a business. I mean, you have to file tax returns for your business, keep proper accounting records, etc. Do you know anything yet about those topics?

To be honest, your smallish town isn’t going to generate a lot of business in that limited business plan of yours. Not everyone is as into video games as much as you are – and there are PLENTY of bigger companies who will attract customers to their sites over yours. Best of luck though
